News from CEVA

CEVA Group reports Q1 results; launches new organisation for global supply chain management; enhances its Consolidated Border Truck program with Saturday Night Expedite service; signs four-year agreement with Coswell in Italy.

CEVA Group has reported its results for the first quarter ended 31 March 2011, with EBITDA up 36.5% and
revenue up 13.3%.

Q1 EBITDA was €71 million (Q1 2010: €52m) on revenues of €1.69 billion (Q1 2010: €1.49bn).

According to CEO John Pattullo, the results prove the benefits of the structural changes CEVA made last year, and the group entered 2011 in a strong position following the sequential improvements demonstrated in 2010.

The Group reported strong results in both air- and ocean freight, with increased volumes – particularly on the transatlantic lanes, and improved margins.

While the earthquake and tsunami resulted in reduced outbound volumes from Japan; this is not expected to be material to the Group’s performance in 2011.

Contract Logistics and Freight Management both performed well.

Geographically, CEVA delivered good results around the world in terms of both revenue and profit, particularly in Asia-Pacific.

CEVA experienced growth in its key market sectors of automotive, consumer and technology, as well as industrial, and achieved more than €528 million of new business wins in the first quarter.

Launch of Supply Chain Solutions

CEVA has created a new organisation for global supply chain management – Supply Chain Solutions, and launched its latest SMART Solution, SMART End to End.

CEVA’s Supply Chain Solutions organisation was created in response to the changing and evolving needs of large global customers, and includes 185 employees and five control towers around the world.

As customers have shifted to sourcing, manufacturing and distributing products on a global basis, the complexity of managing their supply chains has increased whilst high performance and total cost remain key criteria. The Supply Chain Solutions team will use the experience and expertise that already exists within CEVA to consolidate different structures, organisations and resources to further strengthen its global team and upgrade its End to End Solutions to drive strategic advantage for its customers throughout their supply chains.

CEVA’s new SMART End to End is a standardised, consistent and configurable process that delivers value at every stage, and, when coupled with CEVA’s commitment to Operational Excellence, it provides rigorous management of global supply chains for both finished goods and production and spare parts.

Under this new solution, CEVA will manage everything from components and inbound logistics through to moving the finished product, and can average significant year-on-year savings of between 5% and 15% through productivity improvement programs.

Designed to address increasing supply chain complexity, SMART End to End provides solutions to manage global sourcing strategies, inventory supply and demand, total logistics spend, complete supply chain visibility and supplier performance management. CEVA’s integrated global network will form the foundations of the solution, exploiting the already established Control Tower network in key, strategic locations across the world.

Saturday Night Expedite service

CEVA has added Saturday Night Expedite to its Consolidated Border Truck (CBT) program, providing Saturday delivery services into the US from Mexico that need to arrive in the Midwest or Ontario, Canada by Monday morning.

Originally developed for freight from the US/Mexican border to support just-in-time factories in the Midwest and Canada, the program has since evolved into a flexible and customisable solution based on customer feedback.

The Saturday Night Expedite service was designed in response to new delivery demands, as automotive companies in particular find that if freight is not delivered on time, the plant could face significant production costs.

Agreement with Coswell in Italy

CEVA has signed a four-year agreement with Coswell in Italy, which specialises in the production and sale of consumer packaged products for personal and beauty care.

CEVA will handle the distribution of Coswell products throughout Italy as well as managing stock at the warehouse in Castel San Pietro, near Bologna, in which a surface area of 6,500 m² will be set aside for the customer. 45,000 inbound and outbound pallets will be handled at this facility every year.

The agreement with Coswell further strengthens CEVA’s presence in the beauty care market, in line with its objective to achieve leadership in this sector in the next three years.
