Kuehne + Nagel expands perishables logistics network in South America

Kuehne + Nagel has entered into an agreement to take over two Colombian companies, Translago and Agencia de Aduanas Excelsia, as well as Mastertransport in Ecuador.

The acquisition of the three companies, all of which are specialised in perishables logistics activities, is in line with Kuehne + Nagel’s five-year growth program.

The acquisitions give Kuehne + Nagel access to two of South America’s key perishables export markets, and considerably strengthens its position in the regional airfreight markets.

Headquartered in Bogota, Translago and Agencia de Aduanas Excelsia, export flowers and other perishables, mainly to destinations in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. Mastertransport is an important player in this perishables logistics segment in Ecuador.

Together, the three companies control approximately 75,000 tons air export perishables per year.

According to executive vice chairman Karl Gernandt, combining the newly acquired companies with Kuehne + Nagel’s existing operations puts the company in a leading position in the South American perishables segment.
